Obituary: On Saturday, July 11th, 1891, Jacob Yackee, one of Henry county's old and highly respected citizens passed to the world beyond after a lingering illness of about three years, from the effects of a stroke of paralysis. He came to this country about 18 years ago from Elsia, Germany, and settled down on a small piece of land just west of town, and by constant labor soon received his reward in a 40 acre farm (the Delventhal farm.) Old age approaching, and having amassed a snug little sum, he invested in property in town and up to the time of his death was living a retired life. About six years ago the messenger of death entered his home and claimed his companion, since which time he has spent a good many days and months among his children. At the time of his death he was making his home with his son Fred of Flatrock township, and had reached the ripe old age of 74 years, 1 month and 2 days. He leaves three sons, Jacob, Fred, and Christopher, and one daughter, Mrs. Katie Keimm, to mourn their loss. The funeral took place on Monday from the residence of his son Fred, in Flatrock township. |
