Drowned

Charles White, heretofore employed as a moulder by the Stove Company, was drowned on Tuesday, 11th inst., in the Maumee. In company with his brother Levi and others he went fishing on the ice below town, and, on his return, broke in, where the water was deep and the ice rotten, and before relief could reach him was drowned. His brother escaped a like fate only through the aid of Wm. Bridenbaugh.

The deceased was a young man, about 25 years of age, unmarried, of French descent, and came here from Cleveland -- being, we believe, a Canadian by birth. He was an industrious, sober and exemplary man, and his sad fate is deplored by many friends. -- Defiance Democrat.
