Obituary:

OBITUARY. Mr. Editor: Again it becomes our sad duty to chronicle the death of one highly esteemed and loved by many. Grant Wheeler, son of Caleb Wheeler Esq., of Harrison township, Henry county, O., died Nov. 30, 1884, aged 22 years, 9 months and 26 days. For many long years he was confined to his room, suffering, at times, severely, but he endured it all with much patience; endeavoring to make himself useful. With no other teacher than a kind and indulgent mother, he soon acquired skill in needle-work, knitting, etc., that was surprising to the beholder. He did a large amount of this kind of work, although confined to his bed. In disposition he was kind, courteous and affable. It was the happy privilege of the writer frequently to visit the home of this afflicted one, finding him cheerful and happy. Under circumstances that were apparently discouraging, he showed no signs of despondency, and when the closing scene came he was ready and willing to depart. An unusually large number of persons gathered at the old brick chapel in Harrison township, and witnessed the funeral services, then followed to the last resting place of the silent dead.

Farewell Grant, thy tolls have ended;
Month and years of care and pain,
With angelic hosts hast blended,
On that fair and happy plain.

On the bank of yonder's river,
In the fields of endless light,
We will meet and live forever
In that laud so fair and bright.

Rev. J. W. Myers. McClure, O., Dec, 1, 1884
