Obituary: 1888-04-19 Death of Hon. C. J. SwanThe many friends of Charles J. Swan will regret to learn of his death, which occurred at his residence in Sioux City, Ia., on Thursday, April 5, 1888. The deceased was for many years a prominent attorney in this place and was well known to all our citizens residing here some ten years ago. His death was very sudden, his sickness being only of a few hours duration. The immediate cause of his death was the rupture of a blood vessel at the base of the brain, the result, however, of a condition similar to apoplexy Ottawa Sentinel Mr. Swan was well known in this city. He represented the district in the State Senate and resided in Toledo and practiced law here for several years, removing to Sioux City a little over a year ago. He lost his wife while living here and subsequently was himself seriously ill, his disease affecting his mind and causing his friends much anxiety for a time. Toledo Commercial |
