SMITH -- May Smith, infant daughter of Frank and Maggie Smith, was born December 29th, 1883, and died May 20th, 1885, aged 1 year, 4 months and 21 days. This is the first visitation which the reaper Death has made to this family. Short was May's stay with us, but how loved was she. It was hard to say good-bye. She was a bright jewel, too good for this earth's chilling storms. She has gone to a more genial clime, to lift heavenward the very hearts that broke at her farewell. Thus the little jewel passed away to make heaven fairer and sweeter with her immortal bloom. May God bless and sustain the bereaved family, and bring them to that rest, where no farewell tear is shed, to enjoy the company of their dear little May.

Oh, may this prescious angel
To us so kindly given,
For just a few bright, joyous days,
Lead all of us to heaven.
