Obituary: At Ninety-One On Thursday the 10th inst., Martin Sloan, probably the oldest man in Henry county, laid down his living cares and sought rest in the great hereafter. The direct cause of his death was simply a lack of vitality as the physicians could detect no disease. The deceased was widely known and highly respected. Especially in Damasous township was he held in high esteem, and to the citizens thereof the taking off of Grandpa Sloan is an occurrence to scatter great grief among his large circle of acquaintances. A large part of his 91 years was spent in Henry county. He leaves seven daughters and two sons besides hosts of grand- and great-grand children, Two sons are dead thus making him the father of eleven children. Funeral services were held Saturday from the Shunk church, Rev. Meyers in charge. |
