Obituary:

SIFORD Our mother, around whose remains we have gathered to pay the last tribute of respectHannah Siford was born in Stark county, Ohio, January 3rd, 1818, and died at Florida. Ohio, March 1st. 1890, aged 42 years, 1 month and 28 days. She was united in marriage to Joseph Siford, December 8th, 1870; together they lived in the bonds of matrimony about 20 years. She was the mother of nine children two had already preceded her over the River, while the husband, four sons and three girls, with many loving friends are left to mourn the loss of a kind mother. She was a member of the United Brethren Church at Florida, O, for a number of years; she lived and died in the faith. This loving wife, the gentle mother, the constant friend, is gone. How sweetly she sleeps the last sleep; she has closed the eyes that have shed their last tears, laid the hand on the bosom that has heaved the last sigh. As a mother, how gentle, tender and patient; how anxious she was for her children's welfare as she asked her husband a few days before she died what he would do with the children if she was called away, and said, try and keep them together. Calmly and quietly the sun of her life went down and with her the battle of life was over. May they all remember the Scripture text that was used on this occasion, found in Philllpians, 1st chapter, and a part of the first verse: "To die is gain," and the hymn that was sung at the funeral: Shall we meet Beyond the River. The funeral took place at the United Brethren Church, at Florida, Rev. C. E. Moorman officiating, after which her body was conveyed to the cemetery two miles north-east of Florida, and the many tears that were shed attested the strong hold she had upon the affections of all who knew her May the Great Comforter sustain the sorrowing now and ultimately bring them all to meet in the sweet bye and bye.

The day we laid her In the tomb.
The natural sun was shining bright,
But oh, our hearts was filled with gloom
To think that she was out of sight.

Alas, how sad to say farewell,
It's hard to part with mother dear,
Though she is gone with Christ to dwell
Be happy there without a tear.

J. W.

We hereby tender our heartfelt sincere thanks to the good kind friends who so kindly assisted us during the illness of our beloved mother for their aid and sympathy in the hour of our great affliction and in the burial of our mother. We can only wish for them that when the hand of God is laid heavy in affliction, then they may find friends as kind and willing to aid.
