Obituary:

One of our oldest pioneer ladies departed this life in the person of Mrs. Mary A. Schwabley, the mother-in-law of Commissioner William Zierolf, who died May 21st, 1892, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mat Thome, in Pleasant township. The funeral ceremonies were held the 23rd, ult., at the Catholic Church at New Bavaria, the Rev. Father Harks in charge. Being well and favorably known and at the advanced age of 84 years, 7 months and 13 days, the funeral was attended by relatives and friends from far and near. Her death was caused by dropsy and old age. She was a native of Germany, being born near Wurzburg, Bavaria, on Saturday, Sept. 8th, 1807. Emigrating to this country in 1836, she located in Henry county, and in 1855 married Hugo Schwabley and was blessed with four daughters, three of whom survive her. They are Mrs. Mathias Thome, Mrs. F. Deatrick and Mrs. W. N. Zierolf. These with two sisters and 21 grand children are left to mourn her demise.
