Obituary: Old Pioneer Dead Mrs, Barbara Schwab, widow of Oswald Schwab, died at her home in Pleasant township, August 23, 1893, at the advanced age of 73 years, 8 months and 19 days. The cause of Mrs. Schwab's death was old age and the lack of vitality incident to the hot season. Funeral ceremony was held at the Sacred Heart church, New Bavaria, Friday, Aug. 25, Rev. W. A. Harks in charge and the remains interred in the cometery adjacent. The deceased was born in Renish, Prussia, Dec. 4, 1819, and moved to the United States in '52. She settled in Tiffin where she lived four years, at the end of that time moving to Henry county and has since lived here, thus making her one of our oldest pioneers. Her husband, Oswald Schwab, preceded her to the hereafter 22 years since, having died in 1871. She leaves four honored and respected sons, viz: Phillip, county examiner, Chas. Ex. county engineer, Peter and Mattias. All those who enjoyed Mrs. Schwab's acquaintance speak highly of her worth and deeply grieve her death. |
