Obituary: Death of Ex-County Commissioner Schall On Friday last Commissioner Schall, of New Bavaria, breathed his last, dying at the ripe old age of 73 years, 16 months and 11 days, of lung trouble. His funeral took place from the German Reform Church in New Bavaria on Sabbath, Rev. Schatz officiating, in the presence of a large concourse of friends, relatives and neighbors. Mr. Schall was one of the original members of the church from which he was buried, being one of the organizers of the society. He was a devout member and was always willing to devote his share towards the support of the church. He came to this county in the year 1837, and has since resided in Pleasant township. He served as County Commissioner for two terms, and held a number of positions in the gift of the citizens of his township, which he filled with ability and fidelity. Under the administration of President Buchanan he was Postmaster at New Bavaria. Always a true Democrat he was ever watchful of the interests of his party. Mr. Schall leaves an aged companion and four children to mourn their loss, two children having preceded him to the great beyond. The bereaved ones have the heartfelt sympathy of friends throughout the county. |
