Child Smothered

A sad calamity befell the household of Mr. David Saygers Tuesday morning. Mrs. Saygers had run into a neighbor's house for a few minutes upon an errand, leaving her eight month's old babe lying sleeping in its crib, but what must have been her horror upon returning home to find her little daughter cold in death! The little one had slipped partly out of the crib, through an aperture made by a broken rung, leaving its body in such a manner that it was smothered to death. The stricken parents have the deep sympathy of the community.
