Obituary:

Jos. E. Powell, of Bryan, son-in-law of R. N. Patterson of the Democrat, drowned last Thursday. He has been in the employ of the Toledo Blade Printing and Paper Co. for years and it was while on a trip to Cheerubusko that he met his death. After transacting his business he accepted the invitation of a friend to go duck hunting on a lake nearby. While engaging in this sport the boat became upset and Powell was drowned. The friend barely escaped with his life. Mr. Powell was a regular caller at this office and he had many friends in Napoleon, especially among the K. of P's, who grieve over his departure. Owing to a storm on the lake his body was not recovered until Saturday afternoon when it was taken to Bryan for interment.
