Obituary: Man Killed. On Monday a butcher named August Poehlman, living near Ridgeville, came to town with a load of meat. Towards evening he left for home; and a short time after his dead body was found on the bridge crossing Bales' Creek southwest of town. From appearances he was thrown from his sled as it struck the bridge, and falling upon his head was rendered insensible, and the sled in passing him shoved part of his body over in the water, in which condition he was found. His horses and sled were but a short distance from the bridge, which goes to show that the team did not run away. Mr. P. was a native of Prussia and leaves a family we understand. Coroner Cloud was notified, and on Tuesday morning held an inquest, rendering the following verdict: I do find that the deceased came to his death by drowning in Bales Creek, in Napoleon tp., Henry county, Ohio, he being thrown out of his sled into the water of said creek at the public crossing, cause unknown. R. M. Cloud, Coroner. |
