Obituary: Terrible Death A shocking accident, resulting in death, occurred in the German settlement in the western part of Napoleon township, on the 17th inst. A German named Plassman was engaged in hauling saw-logs, and coming to a sideling [?]portion of the road, the log commenced sliding towards the lower side, and Plassman, jumping off on that side, was struck, as we are informed, by the log, hurled into the ditch at the side of the road, and the log, which had become detached from the sled, rolled on top of the unfortunate man, crushing him into a shapeless mess. His death, no doubt, was instantaneous. The deceased was a very worthy and industrious man, highly respected by the community in which he resided. |
