Obituary: Succumbed Following the benefit concert Mrs. Jas. Payton was taken to the St. Vincent's hospital, Toledo, Tuesday morning and remained there undergoing preparatory treatment until Saturday when the operation was performed. Dr. Smith of Toledo was the operator, assisted by Doctors Haly and Bloomfield of this place. Notwithstanding the operation was most skillfully performed and every attention paid the patient she rallied but a few hours and died in the evening. Drs. Haly and Bloomfield returned on the evening train, Saturday, and had arrived but a short time when Dr. Haly received a telegram announcing the termination of the operation. Capt. Reynolds left Saturday night for Toledo and returned to Napoleon Sunday with the body. The funeral was held from the late residence on Clinton street Monday morning, Rev. Donahey in charge. Mrs. Payton was in the 31st year of her age and leaves two children who will be placed in some orphan asylum. |
