Obituary: Relieved From Suffering James Peyton is no more. The angel of death struck early Friday morning and "Jim" who had passed through a dreary life of suffering, was relieved. Consumption in his case but repeated the slow torturing death to which it has subjected thousands before him, and he passed to the beyond, doubtless with a sigh of relief that the long journey had at last reached its end, even though that end be death. "Jim" was for many years express agent at this place and a first-class official he was. His cheerful disposition, notwithstanding his malady, combined with a remarkable degree of humor, made for him a whole town full of friends who can do nought but bow to the decree of nature, and grieve over the death of one for whom this life contributed little to his enjoyment. Mr. Peyton was 44 years of age and leaves two children and a wife, the latter being very ill at present writing. The funeral ceremony over the remains of the deceased were held Sunday at the house on Clinton street, Rev. M. L. Donahey in charge and interment took place in Forest Hill cemetery. |
