Obituary: DIED -- Mr. Charles B. Palmer, on Dec. 20, 1882, in Joplin Mission, aged 48 years Charles B. Palmer was formerly a resident of Napoleon, O., was born and raised in Henry county, and was a son of Barton and Dorothy Palmer Barton Palmer has been dead many years, died at Ridgevllle Corners in this county Mr. and Mrs. Palmer came to this county from the State of New York, many years ago, when this county was comparatively new, and lived here to raise quite a large family of children, five boys and one daughter, and Mrs. Dorothy Palmer has lived to see them all grow to manhood, and then pass away by death, with the exception of two sons, Frank A. and Edwin N. Palmer, who are how living in Defiance, O. Mrs. Dorathy Palmer is now quite an old lady in rather feeble health living with Mrs. Margaret Palmer, widow of the late John O. Palmer, deceased, is well supplied with this world's goods. and is a good motherly, kind Christian woman, and has the kind sympathies of all her neighbors and friends in her late bereavement. We take the following from the Joplin Herald. "Charles Palmer, one of Joplin's best known and most highly respected citizens, died yesterday morning at his home on Joplin street. For many months Mr. Palmer has suffered from a tumor on his neck. Which despite medical treatment continued to grow, until it affected the respiratory organs and caused his death. Mr. Palmer has resided in Joplin for several years and acquired an enviable reputation as an upright man and a good citizen He was that class of man-- whose death is a serious loss to any community. A widow and three children are left to mourn the loss of a? kind husband and father. The funeral services will be held at the M. E. Church at 2 o'clock this afternoon." |
