Ortwine. Mr. Frederick Ortwine, died at his residence in Monroe township, this county, July 7th, 1880, of typhoid fever, aged 57 years and 27 days.
The deceased was born in Cur Hessen, Germany, and emigrated to this country about 30 years ago, and settled in Crawford county, Ohio. After remaining there a few years, moved to Monroe township, this county, in 1862, which was then a dense forest. He, under the hardships and privations of a pioneer life, by hard labor and economy, has paid for and improved a fine farm and reared a family of ten children, whom, with the bereaved widow, survivehim. At the time of his death he was erecting a fine residence. A large concourse of friends and neighbors followed his remains to the Knipp cemetery, where they were deposited in their last resting place.
Mr. Ortwine was loved and respected by all who knew him, and the family and relatives have the sympathy of the whole community.
