Obituary: FREEDOM TOWNSHIP. Farmer Killed by Being Kicked by a Horse Freedom Towhship, March 26th. A sad accident occurred last Sabbath at the home of C. P. Meyer, the result of which Mr. Henry Oelfke lost his life. Mr. Oelfke and family went to spend the day at Mr. Meyer's and joy uninterrupted prevailed and to add more pleasure to the already joyful meeting of relations, Mr. Schwake and wife, living near Hamler, also came, making joy complete. But also, life is very uncertain, joy was soon turned to sorrow and laughter to weeping by Mr. Oelfke being kicked by a horse. He was carried to the house, and physicians sent for. Drs. Maerker and Shoemaker responded immediately to the call, and found the skull badly crushed, the effects of which he could not survive; and died at 2 o'clock Tuesday morning. Mr. Oelfke was a well respected citizen, living four miles west of Napoleon. His death will be mourned by a host of friends. /signed/ Suscriber |
