Obituary:

Mrs. Laurettie Myers whose death was recorded in last weeks' paper, was shocking to her friends in McClure; although she had been lingering for some time with the consumption. She is the eighth child that has past away from her father's family. The father having passed away several years in precedence. Four sons and the mother are yet living, viz. Jane Packard, Elbert, Russel, Eugene and Alonzo her sons. Mother Packard has our most heartfelt sympathies in her bereavement. Also the husband and little son of the deceased. In memory of poor Lettie:

Angels with pinlons to saintly spread,
Visited poor Lettle's dying bed,
The prize they sought was winged above,
Where all is peace and rest and love.

This home contains her empty chair,
And an emptiness seems every where,
We know this home is sad and lone
Now, since poor Lettie's gone.

Although her body is 'neath the cold sod,
The spirit is surely with its God,
And if again we see her face,
We must meet her at the throne of grace.

Therefore like her we must prepare,
To meet Christ in glory, and reign with him there
It was very sad for me to hear,
Of the death of one so kind and dear;
I may be next to feel the rod,
Of him who is supremest God.

Dear reader, we all alike must die,
Perhaps that hour is very nigh,
Also a cold coffin will be our bed,
And an icy pillow to rest our head.

Misa Aluedia Kinney, McClure, Jan, 23, '88.
