Obituary:

Human Gore Flows in the Streets of Florida, Last Wednesday night the slumbering echoes of the village of Florida, this county, were awakened by the sharp report of pistols and the cry of "blood." It appears that in the early part of the evening trouble arose between Bill Dencer and two brothers, named Jake and Charley Mowery, during which Jake Mowery was forcibly evicted form Dencer's saloon. In a short time the brothers re-entered the saloon, Jake carrying a revolver in his band. High words again arose. Dencer pulled a revolver and firing commenced. Jake Mowery bad a finger shot off by a ball from Dencer's pistol, Charley then took the pistol from his brother and opened fire but immediately fell pierced by a wound in the left breast which, it was at first thought, would prove fatal. Dencer received a ball in the neck, but not serious. The ball that dropped Charles Mowery entered the left breast just above the nipple and lodged under the left arm. On Monday the Mowerys were arrested, on complaint of Dencer. Jake appeared before Justice Schofield, waived examination and was bound over to await the action of the grand jury; his bond was fixed at $250. Charles was unable to appear for hearing. Dencer claims to have acted in self defense; while the friends of the Mowerys lay the blame on Dencer.
