Obituary
Mowery -- Chas. Mowery was born near Florida, Henry county, Ohio, on January 29th, 1859, died April 24th, 1885, aged 26 years, 2 months and 25 days.
Mr. Mowery was married to Hattie McHenry, September 3d, 1884. The cause of Mr. Mowery's death was a shot from a pistol in the hands of Wm. Dancer, on last Thanksgiving eve. The ball entered his left breast and ruptured a blood vessel, and from the time he was shot up to the day he died he was in a very critical condition and died from the effect of hemorrhage. He was in full vigor of youth amid the happy scenes of life and surrounded by many loving friends, and was suddenly called away from among us in the very springtime of life when the hope and aspirations of youth were budding into manhood and when a useful life was luring him onward, death overtook him and he is gone from among us. It was hard to give him up and say farewell Charley, and know that we must see him no more on earth. But we have the consolation of knowing that he has crossed over the river and is on ever green shores. His funeral took place at the M. E. Church in Florida, the Pastor of said church officiating, after which his remains were followed to the grave by a large concourse of relatives and friends. May God sustain and preserve the mother and fatherless children, and may the young wife seek an interest in Christ that she too when called upon to pass death's door may meet her companion in that home where parting is not known.
Farewell my dear wife and children
with you I could no longer stay,
Oh meet me my loved ones in Heaven
Do meet me in Heaven I pray.
