Death of Deputy County Auditor Meyers

John I. Meyers, deputy county auditor, died at his home in this city at 9 o'clock on Saturday morning last, after a lingering illness, caused from catarrhal affections, Although his death had been expected to occur at most any moment for some time, when dissolution did come, his many friends were much shocked at the announcement. Mr, Meyers was born in Wyandotte county in the year of 1864, making him at his death in his 30th year. In 1891 he was married to a daughter of Henry Kratz, a prominent citizen of Monroe township, by which union two children were born to them, both mother and children surviving the father. Mr. Meyers is a brother of th Hon. Frank Meyers, representative in the general assembly from this county. He entered the Auditor's Office as deputy when Mr. Resh took charge of the office in 1891, but was compelled to leave hia position in April last on account of impaired health, since which time he has beeh unfit for manual labor. The deceased was an excellent citizen, honest, competent and gentlemanly, well liked by everybody, and his death is regretted by all. The funeral occurred Tuesday morning, from the Evangelical church, Rev. Green officiating. Interment took place in the cemetery on the South Side. In honor to the memory of Mr. Myers the county offices were closed Tuesday forenoon.
