Obituary: It was our sad duty last week to announce the death of Mr. J. B. Meyers, and it comes our none the less painful task to chronicle the demise of his estimable wife, who succumbed to consumption March 1, 1893. The funeral was held at the Shunk church Sunday, Rev. G. W. Long in charge, and the remains interred in the cemetery at that place by the side of her dead husband of only a week. To the bereft family the Northwest in common with our entire community extends sympathy and sincerely hopes that means for a partial palliation of suffering and grief will not be wanting. The deceased was born in Pennsylvania Nov. 7, 1830, making her 62 years, 3 months and 24 days of age. While still young she moved to Ohio and shortly after became the wife of John Meyers. She, with her husband, was an old pioneer of Monroe township and during her long life there made an army of friends who look upon her death as indeed a local calamity. |
