Dear Lizzie, we bid you adieu,
Through sorrow our hearts do swell,
And life is lonely without you.
Dear Lizzie, now farewell.

Papa and mamma now will miss thee,
There will be one vacant chair;
Brother and sister, too, will miss thee,
We miss thee, Lizzie, everywhere.

Dearest Lizzie, we will miss thee,
Miss thee through the summer hours,
Now we never more shall see thee
Roaming 'mid the brightest flowers.

But we have the sweet assurance,
That thou art among the blest,
Where we all shall cease our troubling
And with thee will safely rest.

Now we part, but not forever,
There will be glorious dawn,
We will meet to part, no, never,
On the resurrection morn.
