Obituary: McRill -- Grace, youngest daughter of F. M. McRill and wife, born at South Napoleon, O., March 21st, 1883, died at 5707 Dearborn street, Englewood, Ill., Tuesday evening, May 2nd, 1893, aged 10 years, 1 month, and 11 days. For some time she seemed unusually bright, engaging in work, or play with a joyous buoyant spirit, but a day, a night, and a day, and that dreaded and painful disease Cerebro-Spinal Meningitis did its dreadful work. The many children and the quanatities of floral offerings laid about and on her casket, the tearful neighbors and friends who came with kind words of love and sympathy, all told that the little one's life had been a busy one. As she went about she wad kindling in hearts of young and old, the warmth of true affection. The willing little feet, carried her on daily errands for mother and home. The grocer, the druggist, the baker, the butcher and wherever business called her, became familiar with the friendly little Lillian Grance. The aged, the unfortunate, and the poor, were her especial care. If any were sick -- by some means she found way to their side, with words of childish sympathy she blessed all. It is comforting to the lonely mother to have the stranger enter her home, and with a warm clasp of the hand, and falling tears, hear these words: "You have my sympathy, Mrs. M., for although I have never met you before, your little Lillian and I were the best of friends." Faces and forms bent over her in tears, that were new to the family, but had been known by her. She was simply a christian of practice doing good, as each day we learn more of her life and character. The Lord help us to so live, that we may meet her in heaven. L.E.M. |
