Obituary: MARIS. On December 5, 1883. Mrs. Hannah Maris, aged 60 years, 4 months and 20 days. Mrs. Maris was of a family of 9 girls and 4 boys, but two sisters and one brother survives her. She was born in Tyler county, Va., July 15th, 1823. In childhood her parents moved to Wood county, Ohio, but for thirty-four years prior to her death he resided near Napoleon, Henry county, O. She leaves two children, a son and a daughter, who sincerely grieve the loss of one of the best mothers the world has ever known. They so kindly ministered to her every want and heard from her lips "I love my children ," Just before she said "I am going." She had "set her house In order," and was quietly and fearlessly awaiting her Master's call, she was a worthy member of the Christian church for fifteen years before her decease. Her sympathies were ever with the suffering and afflicted, ever ready with willing heart and bands to minister to the sick or dying. Aunt Hannah, as she was commonly called by those who knew her, was a friend to all, beloved by old and young. Industrious, frugal and generous to a fault, she was a model woman, was the comfort, joy and pride of her children. She will be missed most by the son and daughter, and much by the best of friends who knew her, but to love her. On Friday, Dec. 7th, her funeral was largely attended, services were conducted by Rev. Geo. Russell, of the Christian church, in the school house near her late residence, after which weeping friends laid her body to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery. May angels tenderly and lovingly hover over her last resting place. L. E. M., South Napoleon, Dec. 18, 1383. |
