Obituary:

Shocking Death. On Thursday night last at about 9 o'clock a neighbor was horrified at finding the dead body of Mr. Wm. Mann hanging to the fence in front of the home of his parents in this place. On that day and for day or two previous William was under the influence of liquor, and it is supposed upon reaching the gate of his home he slipped, falling against the fence, and his neck becoming wedged between two pickets he was choked to death, not having sufficient strength to extricate himself. The body had not hung long, as it was still warm when discovered, but life was extinct. Mr. Mann was an excellent young man, and had been clerking for sometime for Mr. Wm. Stockman; he was a son of Col. Mann, who is now in the mining business in New Mexico, and was in the 28th year of his age. His funeral took place on Saturday, attended by the Napoleon Light Guards, of which organization he was a member.
