Maier. On March 29, 1884, Gotlelb F. Maier, aged 84 years, 11 months and 24 days. Gotlelb F. Maier was born In Wirtemberg, Germany, April 5, 1799, and died at his late residence near McClure, Henry county, O. He was the father of nine children, three girls and six sons, four of whom preceded him into the spirit land. In the year 1838 with the companion of his youth, he left the home of his childhood to try his fortune on America's shore. He settled in Pennsylvania where he remained until 1843, when he moved to Fairfield county, Ohio with his family and remained there until 1849 when he again moved to Henry county, on the same farm he resided on at the time of his death. He was a shoemaker by trade and for many years did a large amount of custom work and became quite widely known. He will live long in the hearts of many in the community in which he resided and while we mourn the loss of a good man we are made to feel that our loss is his eternal gain. In his youthful day he gave his heart to God, his hand to the Church in which he lived an exemplary Christian life until called from sorrow, toil and labor, to rest in Heaven with loved ones on the brighter shore.
