An Old Resident Dead

Mrs. Mary F. Lightheiser, who has been lying sick for some time at the home of her son, Jacob Lightheiser, in Harrison township, died on the morning of Aug. 25th, 1893, at 2:30 o'clock, aged 78 years, 7 months and 22 days. Mother Lightheiser was an old resident of this county, loved by all who came in contact with ber. The funeral took place from the brick church in Harrison township on Sunday. It was largely attended by friends and relatives.

Lightheiser — At the home ef her son, Jacob in Harrison township on Friday, Aug. 25th, 1895, Mary Lighthiser, aged 78 years, 7 months and 22 days.

The deceased was born in Lancaster county Pa., Jan, 2nd, 1815. Was married to Mr. J. C. Lighthiser in same county and state Aug 21st 1838. They came to Henry county in the year 1858 and endured the hardships of those hardy pioneer days, when the country was comparatively a wildernees. In 1879 her husband was taken away from her by the hand of death, and since that time she has lived with her son, whose devoted wife tenderly cared for the aged one. She was the mother of ten children, eight boys and two girls. One daughter and three sons having departed this life in in the years 1848, 1855, 1859 and 1864 respectively, leavin five sons and one daughter and seventeen grandchildren living. During the dark days of the rebellion this loyal devoted mother sent three of her sons out in defense of their country and flag, all of whom returned to receive a a mother's benediction and biessing. She was a firm believer in prayer and in the faith of the Gospel.

Her funeral was held from the brick church near Shunk on Sunday at 10:30 a.m., conduced by Rev. G. W. Long and attended by a large gathering of friends an neighbors.

The many friends and neighbors who so kindly aided in the sickness and death of the deceased have the most sincere thanks of the family.
