Obituary:

Leist — Levi Leist was born in Pickaway county, Ohio, Nov. 2nd, 1823, and departed this life Dec. 7th, 1893, aged 70 years, 1 month and 5 days.

July 16th, 1848, he was united in marriage to Harriet Moore, and in September of the same year removed to Henry county, and a year later removed upon the farm where he lived until his death. He was one of the p!oneers of this county, coming here over forty years ago, and by thrift and industry succeeded in clearing up the farm and improving his late beautiful aud attractive home.

He accepted Christ as his personal Savior in his youthful days, was one of the charter members of the church at Hebron and was a representative at the first Council of the Christian Union held in Columbus, Ohio. He was a devout student of the Bible, and in his declining years it was his chief and only study. One might speak of any passage of the Scripture in the New Testament and he could tell at once if it was quoted correctly and where to find it. He wanted a "Thus Saith The Lord" as a basis upon which to bulld his hope. He was possessed with a characteristic of positiveness and never hesitated or evaded to declare his honest convictions. He endured his late affliction without a murmer and was frequently heard in prayer to God, informing his family that be was fully aware of his approaching end, that all was well.

He leaves a wife, one daughter, three sons and seven grandchildren to mourn the sad loss of his departure.

Funeral services were held on the 10th inst. at the Hebron church, conducted by Rev. G. W. Foltz, of Deshler, to a large congregation of relatives and friends, after which his remains were taken to the Morrison cemetery and reverently laid away to await the resurrection morn.
