Obituary:

Lang.-- On the 4th of February 1883, In Damascus township, at the residence of her son, Mr. Henry Lang, Esq., Elizabeth Lang,, aged 73 years and 3 months. She was one of the pioneers of the township, coming here in 1851. In 1853 her companion and husband was called by the relentless hand of death to leave a little family in a new home to meet with the hardships and privations incident to pioneer life; but with that untiring energy which was so common to the early settlers of the country, she was able to support her family well and to gather around her a large circle of friends. She was the subject of severe affliction for a number of years, but early in life she was made the recipient of the comforts which religion yield to its possessor, and when age and infirmity of affliction became her lot, she found great comfort and consolation in the promises of the Savior. A very large number of people attended her funeral service, and sadly followed to the silent resting place of the dead at Damascus Cepter.

Mother, we bid you now adieu,
Thongh grief our bean do swell.
And life seems lonely without you,
Yet mother, now farewell.

On memories' page you fill a place,
While here on earth we dwell,
Though we no more behold your face,
Kind mother, now farewell.

With deepest grief we'll Journey on
Our sorrow who can tell?
But when we gain that happy home,
No more we'll say farewell. Jno. W. Myers
