Obituary: Frightful Accident. Friday morning George Kepfer, a section hand on the C. H. & D. railroad, was almost instantly killed at Carrollton, a station a few miles below Dayton, by being struck with a heavy switch, which was thrown oft by the baggage master, Robert Stevenson. The walls of the unfortunate man's chest were literally crashed in and a number of his ribs broken. He died about thirty minutes after the terrible blow, and his remains were taken to Dayton. Stevenson is a young man about 20, and is almost frantic with grief over the occurrence. Mr. Kepfer, the victim, was a widower about 35 years old, and had been in the employ of the company only five days. His home is said to be at Napoleon, Henry county, al though he has a daughter, 13 years old, residing at Lancaster, O. Toledo Bee. We know of no such person who resided here. -- Ed. Northwest. |
