Obituary:

KARSNER - Died at his residence in Defiance, Defiance county, Ohio, December 1, 1886, of consumption, Daniel Karsner, aged 71 years, 5 months and 21 days. Was born in Virginia, June 13, 1815, the son of Jacob Karsner, an 1812 soldier.

in 1830 the family moved to the state of Ohio, in 1841 Daniel joined his brother Isaac at Florida, Henry County Ohio, he having settle here fear previous. About the year 1845 he married Miss Mary Ann Essex, by which marriage he was the father of 5 children, 2 sons and 3 daughters, of which number one son and two daughters still survive. In February, 1855, the family were bereft of wife and mother. November 22, 1857, he was again married to Mrs. Sarah Jane Austin, by which marriage he was the father of 5 children, 3 sons and 2 daughters, of which number one son and two daughters survive. He was a resident of Henry County up to the fall of 1868, when he moved to defiance county, and settled near Ayersville, where he resided up to February, 1886, when he moved to the town of defiance, where was his home when occurred his death. His health had been failing for the past two or three years. About 28 years ago he became awakened as to his spiritual welfare and passed from darkness into light and united with the Christian Church. Since his removal to Defiance county, about 40 years ago, he entered into connection with the Free Will Baptist Church, of which he lived a consistent and respected member up to the period of his death and died rejoicing in the hope of a full and free salvation. In the fullness of years in peace he has passed away and the death of the righteous man was his. Beyond the three score years and 10 alloted to man, had he lived and when come to him the Master's summons it found him prepared and willing to go. A kind and affectionate husband, a devoted father, a worthy and respected friend and neighbor and a useful and upright citizen hath journeyed to that bourne from whence no traveler returns. The church has lost a worthy and respected member, but to the stricken family we would say they mourn not as those who have no hope. May they lay firm hold all the hope and faith that was his and they have promise of a happy meeting in the bright beyond. Services at the M. E. Church, at Ayersville, conducted by Rev. Dodge, of the Free Will Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. Barker, of the M. E. Church at Ayersville. Burial and what is known as Ay Hills graveyard.
