Mustered into the service Sept. 20, 1861, and mustered out May 22, 1865, having served his country 3 years and 8 months. Part of his service was on the staff of Maj. Gen. Hovey of Indiana. He passed an unsullied record as a soldier of the Republic Comrade Jones was mustered into Choate Post, Dec. 7, 1883. He filled the office of Jun. He was an active and earnest worker in the Post, and by his long and faithful service, both in office and in ranks, he won the affections and respect of his Comrades. Comrade Jones has fought his battles through and been laid to rest, and his soul has followed the long column to the realms above where he has joined the Comrades who have gone before around the eternal Camp Fire. At the time of his death Comrade Jones was serving the second year of his time as Postmaster of Napoleon, which office he had filled to the entire satisfaction of his patrons. Resolved, That in the death of our late Past Commander this Post has lost a true Comrade in every sense of the word, his family a kind husband and father, and the Government a faithful and efficient officer. Resolved, That this Post extends its heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family of our late Comrade in this their hour of affliction and sorrow. Resolved, That as a mark of respect to the memory of our deceased Comrade the Post Hall be draped in mourning for thirty days, and that a copy of these resolutions be furnished the Napoleon newspapers for publication.
