Obituary: FATAL ACCIDENT - On Tuesday morning as a team was standing at Koller's elevators with a wagon loaded with corn the horses became frightened at a passing train of cars. A young man, by name Charles Hovey, and his uncle were at the heads of the horses holding and trying to quiet them, but the animals reared and plunged so that they broke loose from the hold of the young man, throwing him to the ground, the wheels of the loaded wagon passing over his body from the shoulder down over the abdomen. The unfortunate man lived but a few minutes after the accident. He lived with his uncle on the farm of Dr. Harrison, and was about 22 years of age. |
