FUNERAL SERVICE OF JOHN HOUTS, LATE OF GRELTON, O.

By request, the funeral services of John Houts were conducted by the I. O. O. F Lodge ?of McClure, of which he was an active member in good standing.

The procession was formed as follows: 1st, the visiting lodges of the K. of ?P., 2nd, the Grelton lodge of K. of P., 3rd, visiting lodges of I. O. O. F., 4th, Vansant lodge of McClure, I. O. O. F., 5th, pall bearers, 6th, hearse, 7th, relatives and friends of the deceased. Forty-five teams representing the different lodges proceeded the hearse. On arriving at Colton the funeral services were preached by the Rev. John Myers, and ably and impressively delivered The I. O. O. F. had to abandon their ceremonies at the graveyard on account of a heavy shower of rain. The arrangements were carefully carried out as far as possible and spoke well for the attending lodges.

Resolution of respect passed by Vansant lodge No. 738 I. O. O. F. at regular meeting Aug. 22nd, 1888 Whereas, In the providence of God, our brother John Houts has been removed from us by death, therefore
Resolved 1st. That in the death of our brother, we recognize the hand of God who in the disposition of his providence is ever controlled by infinite wisdom and love, and we would therefore bow in willing submission to his will in our present bereavement realizing that he doeth all things well.
Resolved. 2nd. That in the death of brother Houts we sustain the loss of a brother, who as a man was amiable and kind in all his social relations and intercourse with the people with whom he met.
Resolved.? 3rd. That while yielding submission to the Divine will in our brother's death, we shall not fail to recognize the fact our loss is his gain, nor shall we cease to cherish in our hearts a remembrance of his earnest, faithful and successful labors among us.
Resolved.? 4th. That we tender to the wife and child of our deceased brother, our most earnest and sincere sympathy in their sore and trying bereavement and would ever pray that He, who is a husband to the widow and father to the fatherless, my ever be their comfort and abiding portion.
Resolved. ?5th, That the lodge charter be draped in mourning for thirty days.
Resolved.? 6th. That a copy of these resolutions be presented to Mrs. Houts and that they be published in the papers of the county.
