Deplorable Accident at Defiance.

About noon last Friday a most deplorable accident occurred on the Auglaize river near the B. & O. crossing, in Defiance, by which Fred Hillman, his wife and two children were drowned. Hillman was a day laborer and usually worked at odd jobs around town. He hired a small, boat, hardly .arge enough to safely carry more than one person, and attempted to cross with his wife, a little boy of 4 years and a baby girl of 18 months. When out in the stream the boat, which was leaking badly, swamped and Hillman and family went to the bottom before assistance could reach them.
