Obituary: 1890-09-11 At about 8 o'clock last Saturday morning, the residents of Hamler and surrounding country were startled by a loud report Upon investigation it was found that the boiler in the tile works of Dangler & Caton, located 1 and miles southwest of Hamler, in section 15, had exploded. The engineer, John Henderson, was killed, and the aged father of Mr. Caton badly injured. The shed containing the boiler was demolished and some damage done to other buildings. The cause of the explosion Is not known, but the general opinion is that carelessness upon the part of the engineer wrought the distraction and his untimely death. |
