Obituary:

(Ft. Wayne News, Oct 6th.) Death of Hon. Peter Heller. "The venerable Peter Heller, one of the earliest settlers in Allen county and widely known by reason of his extensive travels and former prominence in business and political circles, died at half past 5 o'clock last evening at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Christian Orff. For several years past Mr. Heller's mental faculties have so waned that his reason was dethroned and he was filled with the wildest and most peculiar vagaries. At one time be owned two hundred acres of land in Eel River township on the Goshen road. He surveyed the road leading from Ft. Wayne to Auburn, and the intersection of the two highways has always been known as Heller's Corners. A post office was subsequently established there, and Mr. Heller was one of its first postmasters. Mr. Heller was in the 82nd year of his age. The funeral services will be on Sunday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, from the residence of Mrs. C. Orff, 204 West Berry street. Friends of the family are invited without further notice. The subject of the above is a relative of Hon. S. M. Heller and brothers in this place.
