Obituary: Death of N. H. Hartman. It is with feelings of the deepest regret that we are compelled to announce this week the death of our fellow townsman, N. H. Hartman, which sad event took place at his residence in this city on Monday morning at 7:30 o'clock. Although his death had been looked for for weeks, when it did occur it was a shock to the community, and words of regret and sympathy could be heard upon every hand. Mr. Hartman had been ailing for many months, and with an expectation of bettering his condition he visited his daughter in Chicago some six weeks ago, but he had no sooner arrived there than he was taken down, from which he never rallied. He was conveyed home, and while his symptoms at times would lead one to believe he was getting better, his physicians entertained no hope for his ultimate recovery. He endured his sickness and pain with fortitude, and had it not been for his rugged constitution he would not have survived as long as he did. His disease was connected with his spleen and liver. Mr. Hartman had for a long series of years been an energetic and valuable citizen of this county, and his death is a severe loss to the community. He died in the 52nd year of his age, and his funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon, when a large circle of relatives and friends paid the last tribute to his earthly remains. The funeral exercises were conducted by the F. & A. M. and Choate Post G. A. R., of which organization he was a member. To his bereaved wife and children the community extend their heartfelt sympathy in this the hour of their sorrow. Peace be to his ashes. Words are inadequate to express the thanks of the bereaved family to all those who lent willing hands and hearts to the care of the deceased husband and father. |
