Obituary: OBITUARY HARTMAN - Passed into the spiritual world Sept. 3d, 1880, Lucy, wife of Samuel Hartman, at the age of nearly seventy years. Mrs. Hartman was born in New York, Sept. 15th, 1810, was married Feb. 23d, 1832, in Salem, Pa. She was the mother of ten children, seven of whom survive her, and the grandmother of thirty children, twenty-six of whom are living. Mrs. Hartman was identified with the early pioneer life along the Maumee, and was known far and near as one who shared all the comforts she possessed with the needy and distressed. She had a quiet, clear mind and a warm, loving heart, which endeared her to all who knew her, and many are the hearts, outside of her immediate family, who mourn her loss. During the last years of her life, she was at times a great sufferer, but her childlike trust in a loving Father never seemed to forsake her, and when the tattered spirit freed itself from the clay that encumbered it, she passed away like a golden sunset after a restful day, after almost three score years and ten of thorough work spent in the Preparatory Course, she has entered the school above, to complete that begun here. Mother Hartman, we sadly miss the warm clasp of your hands; we miss your loving words; we miss your moistened eyes when speaking of the sorrows of others; we miss you everywhere, where we have been accustomed to meet you; but as we think of you in your beautiful "Mansion prepared for you" and in fancy follow you in your wanderings through "the Golden City" and by "the pure river of life," we wish our ears were attuned to the melodies that greet yours, and our eyes unlocked to behold with you the beauties which "eye hath not seen nor the ear heard."
