Obituary: Death of Judge Haly. Again it becomes our painful duty to record the death of an old settler, in the person of?Judge James G. Haly. He had been suffering for some months and has been confined to his room for a long time from a complication of diseases, but his disease did not take an alarming aspect until a week before he died, from which time he gradually grew weaker. He breathed his last upon earth about 2 o'clock last Thursday morning surrounded by his devoted wife and children. The funeral took place on Saturday morning, from his late residence, on the Bryan Pike, being largely attended by his old friends and fellow citizensRev. Donahey conducted short religious services after which the Masonic fraternity?took charge of the remains and buried them with Masonic honors Judge Haly was in the 74th year of his age, and was one of the few remaining pioneer settlers in the Maumee valleyA full biographical sketch of his life has been promised us for our next publication, which is due to the memory of one holding so prominent a position as Judge Haley did. The bereaved family have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community in this their hour of gloom. |
