Obituary: Mother is Dead Our mother, around whose mortal remains we have gathered to-day to pay the last tribute of respect, in the person of Aristine T. Gunn, who was born Dec. 24, 1840, and died March 18, 1894, aged 53 years, 2 months and 22 days, She was united in marriageto W. H Gunn Nov. 25, 1858, and lived happily together until Oct. 25, 1889, when her husband passed away. Since that time she had lived a widow up to her death. To this union was born 5 children, 2 boys and 3 girls; one daughter had also passed away. She leaves four children and four grandchildren, and a host of friends and relatives to mourn. In 1859 she united with the U. B. church and lived a faithfal member till death called her home. Io the race of life she had outstripped her mother, who is old and feeble, and reached the other shore first. This sister for the last 6 months suffered more than human tongue can tell. She was afflicted with something that was strange to all other diseases, and the doctors said they never met with a similar case, and did not fully know the nature of the disease. But the loving wife, the gentle mother, and constant friend is gone. How sweetly she sleeps the last sleep; her sufferings were intense, but without a murmur she bore them all; like Pau! she had a desire to depart and be with Christ. She died happy in the Saviour's love. All sympathize with and pray for the sorrowing ones, and trust that they may follow her home; their loss is her gain. The funeral took place at the family residence, conducted by Rev. L. Durler, pastor of the U. B. church; the text for the occasion was Psalms, 17th chap. and 15th verse: "As for me I will bebold thy face in righteousness, I shall be satisfied when I wake with thy likeness." The remains were laid to rest in the beautiful burying grounds on the home farm, beside those of her husband. In the casket, never moving, J. W. Card of Thanks To the dear good friends who so kindly ministered unto our dear mother during her
hours of suffering and those who so generously stood by us and aided us by their help and sympathy, in our sad bereavement, for their assistance in the last sad offices for the burial of our mother, we tender our heart's most sincere and grateful thanks, and ask for them and the giver of every good gift that when cometh their hour of trial they may have kind friends as they have proved to be us us, and may heaven's blessings rest upon you is the earnest wish of |
