Wednesday afternoon Michael Gier, a well known citizen of Delphos, and leader of Delphos band met with a frightful death. He was driving a loaded hay wagon into his barn, being seated on top. The barn door was scarcely high enough to admit the load. Gier stopped as low as he could and his head passed the door but his shoulders were caught and the team advancing, his spine was doubled back and broken. He died in a few minutes.
