Mr. Fickle was a man highly esteemed by all who knew him and it would not be saying too much, that he was an exception in his social life, for it seemed to be his great delight to live peaceable with everybody, and the surrounding community greatly mourn the loss of one who was so generous in all his character. The deceased enlisted in Co. B, O. N. G. May 2, 1864, and served his country faithfully until Sept. 5, 1864, when he received his honorable discharge. He was buried with full military honors, under the auspices of "Driggs and Martin" Post, G. A. R. of which he was a member. The Sons of Veterans of Pherson Camp participated in the services. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Griffith, of Deavertown circuit, text, third chapter of 1st Cor., part of the 13th verse, "Every man's work shall be made manifest." After the funeral service the remains of deceased were interred in the Iliff cemetery. The deceased leaves a wife and five children to mourn his loss, and who have the sympathy of the entire community. Blessed are they who die in the Lord, for they have but just begun to live. |
