Obituary:

In Memory of David Everett.
The subject of this sketch departed this life April 7, 1871, aged forty-five years. He was a member of the United Brethren Church for about twelve years. He was converted to God under the labor and preaching of Revs. Knox and Birt, at Weible's Grove, Barren Run Circuit, in Westmorland county, Pa. Brother EVERETT was a lover of the classroom and prayer meeting, and often experienced many happy seasons of grace and made to shout aloud the praises of God. He leaves a companion and eight children to mourn his loss, but they mourn not as those who have no hope. He was confined to his room for about eight weeks, but he endured all this with Christian patience. A short time before he died he raised his hands to praise God, and said he was going home to die no more, and could hardly await his appointed time. The community mourns the loss of one of its most valuable and respected citizens, and the class and circuit of which he was a member feel most keenly the unexpected departure of one of their most highly esteemed and useful members. A companion and eight children, together with numerous relatives, are left behind in life's weary journey, and now mourn with the sorrow and loss of a DAVID; but we are assured that he will rest forever in that beautiful city where the shadows of night never come, and the inhabitants never say that they are sick. May the God of all Grace comfort the bereft in that day of His coming, when they will all be gathered with the Redeemer on high. May this be their consolation: that he is safe at home, where storms assail no more, and that they shall all meet in God's eternal day; "prepare for death and follow me." JOSEPH WEIBEL
