Obituary: On Sunday last as two sons of Peter Desgranges, of Pleasant Bend, were in their room preparing to start out on a gunning expedition, one of them, aged 22 years, accidentally shot himself. He took the gun down from the wall and to see whether it was loaded placed his month over the muzzle and with his foot raised the cock; his foot slipped and the gun was exploded, the full charge entering his mouth and passed through his head, killing him instantly. He was a young man much respected and the accident is a terrible affliction to his parents. This is but another warning to those in the habit of handling firearms, and should teach all that too much care cannot be exercised. |
