Obituary:

DAVIS. At his home near Napoleon, Ohio, on Sunday, March 4th, 1888, at 10 o'clock a, m., aged 41 years, 1 month and 15 days. Henry J. Davis was born in Dorsetshire, Old England, Jan. 18, 1847. Came to America with his parents in 1854. Was married to Mary A. Benskin in Napoleon, O., April 25, 1872. Died March 4th, 1888, after an illness of only four days.

?WRITTEN BY REQUEST, IN MEMORY OF OUR DEPARTED BROTHER.

Our brother is not dead; he's only sleeping;
He but obeyed his loving Master's call,
We soon shall put aside this care and weeping,
And watch and wait to meet him, one and all.

And Oh! How we shall miss him when we gather,
As we have often done in days gone by.
With loving hearts and light we met each other,
Without a thought to sorrow or to sigh.

Our circle will not be complete without him,
He, our advisor ever kind and true;
Was ever ready in a time of trouble

With willing hands he sought what he might do.

His life though short was one of ceaseless telling,
Of trials, troubles, sickness and of care?
But through it all, he never once recoileth,
Fought on till Jesus called him over there.

And now we look to God to keep and guide us,
Till we like him, life's battles have fought through,
And ask him in his mercy to abide us,
And keep us to our promise ever true.

God be with his companion in her sorrow,
Help her we pray, this trial, sore to bear.
Help her to feel that 'tis but as tomorrow,
That she shall meet and know him over there.
