Obituary:

DAVENPORT. Eva Caroline Davenport, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Davenport was born June 26, 1875, and died November 30, 1890, aged 16 years, 4 months and 24 days.

After several months of Illness the deceased peacefully passed away and was fully conscious until the last moment. Sister Eva gave clear evidence of her acceptance with Christ and frequently said during her illness that the Lord was with her and that she had a home in heaven. She was patient and resigned to the last, though at times suffering intensely. Yet she seemed to be trusting complacently in the beloved; that when the Lord saw fit to call her to Himself she was ready to go. It seemed to be a luxury to her soul In the last days of her illness to hear sung the sweet songs of Zion, and her countenance was lit up when we sang that beautiful hymn 'Palms of victory, Crown of Glory, I Shall Wear.' Family ties once bound together have been severed and hearts lacerated and bleeding by the loss sustained in the removal of one whom they loved, but the consolation of the Divine Splrlt has been promised as an equivalent for every emergency, for Christ has said, 'I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you.'

The deceased leaves to mourn their loss a father, mother,?three brothers, three sisters and many other friends, but not as one without hope; for their loss is her gain. May the Lord sustain the benefit.

A precious one from us is gone,
A voice we loved is stilled,
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be refilled.

God in his wisdom has recalled
The boon his love had given;
And though the body moulders here,
The soul is safe in heaven.
